Sleeping "Through the Night"

Though I have read several books and magazine articles that pertain to babies' sleep habits, I haven't found a definition for the term sleeping "through the night." Skipping a night time feeding gets you to around 6 hours, which Julia did at 3 weeks. Since then she often slept around 7 hours, which sounds great but still requires a feeding around 4 a.m. Last night, though, Julia slept 10 hours and 15 minutes! She went to sleep at 8:30 p.m. and didn't wake until 6:45 a.m. Hopefully that wasn't a one-time thing and I can finally say, "yes," when I am asked if she sleeps "through the night".

2 Month Check-Up

Today we took Julia to the doctor for her 2-Month visit. She did great, especially considering she got her first round of vaccines (poor baby.) Here are her stats:
  • Weight: 11 pounds, 2 ounces (50th percentile)
  • Length: 22-1/2 inches (50th percentile)
  • Head Circumference: 40 cm (75th percentile)
After the appointment we took Julia to say hi to the nurses in L&D, who had not seen her since she was born. Along the way, we stopped to see some of the other nurses who work with Kyle.

The Goods Visit

Our friends, Jeremy and Ana, came for a quick visit last weekend. We met them for dinner on the square on Saturday night and then watched college football at our house. On Sunday we all went to church and had a nice lunch before they headed back to Houston.

Happy Halloween!

Julia didn't trick-or-treat this year but she did get to wear her costume one more time for Halloween. We took her for a walk before the trick-or-treating began so we could check out a small festival at one of the neighborhood parks. She was wide-eyed and very interested in all she saw. Then we spent the rest of the evening on our front porch handing out candy to the hundreds of kids who came by.
Her costume was a big hit.
On our way back to the house we realized we needed to hurry because the mobs of kids were already going door-to-door. It was fun to see just how many people were out.

Julia couldn't stay awake to see all the other kids' costumes so she just took a nap.

A Day with Great-Grandma & Great-Grandpa

Kyle's Grandma and Grandpa came to spend the day with us on Monday so they could meet Julia. We enjoyed their visit and are thankful that Julia has such wonderful great-grandparents.
