Oh Christmas Tree

Putting up our Christmas Tree was even more fun this year. Julia was very involved and put most of the non-breakable ornaments on for us. Colin liked all the boxes, tissue paper, and especially the ball ornaments. We had Christmas music playing in the background and Julia had her very own mug of hot chocolate for the first time.

Thanksgiving Tour

We had a wonderful time on our whirlwind Thanksgiving Tour. Kyle left the Friday before Thanksgiving to meet his dad and brother at the deer lease and I took the kids to my parents' house. Then we all headed to Beaumont on Tuesday, where we stayed until Thursday morning. We then headed back to Houston and had a quick visit over Thanksgiving dinner before leaving for College Station to attend the Texas A&M vs. Texas football game that evening. We celebrated Colin's birthday on Friday and headed home Sunday morning.

We usually eat at BJ's Brewhouse at least once during our visit and we always make sure to take a group picture outside on this bench.

Colin climbed on the step by himself and was so proud, but then panicked when he realized he didn't know how to get down.

Colin is ONE!

Here are some pictures from Colin's first birthday. We were in Houston since it was around Thanksgiving, so Mamaw and Papaw helped us celebrate his big day.

He seemed to enjoy his birthday cake - he took about 5 bites.

Some things we want to remember about Colin at 12 months:

• He loves balls and books and says "bah" for both
• He has started pointing at things he wants or notices (like balls)
• He waves at people to say hi, and waves bye too
  
• He still naps really well (2 hrs or more in the morning and another 1.5-2 hrs in the afternoon)
• He loves soft blankets in his crib
• If he comes across a blanket, wash cloth, sock, or any soft fabric item around the house he will stop to cuddle with it (and suck his fingers), then he will drag it around with him
• He does really well with his potty training, only making a dirty diaper about once every 2 weeks
• He is good at mimicking sounds we make, like "ta-ta", "ma-ma", "da-da", and "na-na".
• He knows the sounds for these animals: dog, duck, elephant
