Announcement

We are excited to announce that we're expecting another baby! We are 10 weeks along and saw yesterday at our first OB appointment that everything looks good. The baby was moving his/her arms and legs and we were able to see fingers and toes - so cute!

When we were in Houston several weeks ago visiting family, Julia wore a t-shirt that had our news written on it. It was fun to see how long it took for people to notice it and then to see their reactions when they read the back of the shirt. :)

Swim Lessons

We enrolled Julia in a beginner swim class and she loves it! On the first day, I couldn't get her shoes off fast enough - she was so excited to get in the water with the other kids. She loves for me to throw the octopus toy several feet away so she can "swim" to it. When we talk to her about going swimming, the first thing she says is "octopus!!" She has only been twice, but does really well with kicking her legs (while on her back and stomach) and although she is supposed to be able to blow bubbles in the water, she hasn't yet. She wants to when she sees me do it, but when her head gets close to the water she gets nervous and chickens out. She's not a big fan of submersion either, but she'll get used to that in time. Red Poppy Festival

The Red Poppy Festival was last weekend in Georgetown. Kolby, Lindsay, and Shane came to visit for the weekend and enjoy the festivities. We went to the parade, which Shane and Julia really enjoyed, then shopped around some at the vendor booths, had lunch and went home for naps. We returned to the Square later for dinner and the outdoor concert. Mommy and Julia before the parade started. Daddy couldn't be there because he was called in to work.

Recent Pictures

A few weeks ago, Kyle went on a camping trip with some friends so my mom came to visit for the weekend. The highlight of the weekend for Julia was the petting zoo at a kids' carnival at the park - her first petting zoo experience.

Her favorite part of the day was feeding the goats from her hands. She talked about this for days (saying, "goats! hands!")

Julia realized that cows are much better to look at from a distance. Even though the calf was so small, she was terrified of it.

The same hungry goat found Julia and wanted more to eat. He/she was spoiled and wanted to be hand-fed instead of eating all the food that was on the ground.

Julia: 19 Months

Some things we want to remember about Julia at this age:

• After being in another room of the house or outside for a few minutes and coming back in, she exclaims, "HI MOMMY (or DADDY)!!"
• She calls to us a lot and wants us to respond by saying her name like she says ours. "MOMMY..." and if we don't answer, she'll say "DOOYA!"
• She sometimes says, "nope" especially when she is looking for something somewhere and doesn't see it there.
  
• When we read her books before bedtime, she often says "One more...Okay!" since apparently we say "okay" to her a lot after she asks for one more book.
• She loves to give kisses through the staircase spindles on her way up to bed. She'll say, "One more diss!" and stick her face up to the gap for a kiss.

Meeting the Easter Bunny

Julia is like most young children and likes the idea of Santa, the Easter Bunny, and even the Chick-fil-A cow but meeting face to face is a frightening experience. She does ok if we approach from a distance, let her get used to the large costume, and watch other children interact happily with it. Her first encounter with the Easter Bunny is pictured here...(it was at the hospital so Daddy met us between cases)...

First Mommy and Daddy each give the bunny a high-five. Then Julia cautiously does the same.

"Ok that wasn't too bad, but I didn't like it!"

"No Daddy! I don't want to sit in his lap!"

"Me!! Me!!" she says (rescue me!!)

She frantically waves, "BYE!"

Only moments later she plays happily in the duck pond.

Afterward, we went up to the O.R. to let Julia see some of Daddy's work friends who haven't seen here in a while.

Then Daddy had to get back to work...
