Every week I check 3 different websites to get the update on our baby's development - his/her size, weight, and details of his/her growing body. I am always amazed by the miracle of human life and the complexity of God's creation. Other than the thickening of my waist and the slight discomfort when attempting to sleep on my stomach at night, I hardly feel much different than usual at this point. Seeing actual photos of what the baby looks like at each stage makes the experience feel more real. I liked the picture above in particular and wanted to share it along with other details for the week.
According to one of the websites, the baby is about 5.5 inches long and weighs about 6.5 ounces - about the size of a turnip. The pads on his/her fingers and toes will begin to form the characteristic swirls and creases of finger and toe prints. The eyes will now look forward rather than to the sides, and the ears will move to their final position. Most of the baby's bones will also have begun to harden as ossification begins to take place.
