Fun Time at the Pool!

Kyle got home from work early today so we decided to take Julia to the new Rec Center so she could try out the indoor pool. She loved it! We would have stayed longer if the water had been warmer. We were both a little cold, so we knew Julia had to be too, although she never complained. We'll definitely be going back again soon.
Waiting for Daddy to get home so we can go to the pool.
Julia didn't react to the water AT ALL (she has more of a reaction to warm bath water than she did to 80 degree pool water).

We're so glad we brought a toy with us.

Someone gave us the idea to use a kick board to have her ride on. She soon discovered that there was water on the surface of the board that she could slurp up, but we wouldn't let her.

What fun!

Valentine's Day Weekend

Kyle surprised me with a weekend stay at a neat bed and breakfast for Valentine's Day weekend. We left Julia with my parents and headed to Outpost at Cedar Creek in Round Top, which was an old abandoned farm that had been restored and transformed into a rustic inn. We had a wonderful time and appreciated the time "off" so we could enjoy being together. We had never left Julia over night before, but she did great.
The large barn housed the office, lounge/conference area, large kitchen and dining room.
The dining area with view of the kitchen.

This is the cottage where we stayed. It was originally a small barn only steps from the main farm house. Now it is a quaint cottage with a sitting area, bedroom, bathroom, and covered patio.

We don't know what this was, but it was eye-catching so we snapped a photo with it. The car was parked in front of a shop on the square in Round Top.

We enjoyed a nice dinner at Ernie's in Brenham on Valentine's Day.

Beautiful pink tulips from Kyle.
Outside the famous Royer's Cafe.
Our friends, Rusty and Jenni, happened to be in Round Top the same weekend for a church retreat so we met them for lunch before leaving town.

Houston Visit

While Kyle was on his ski trip, Julia and I headed to Houston to visit family and friends. Julia had not yet been to my old office to meet everyone there, so we made sure to do that while in town. After his trip, Kyle flew to Houston to join us for the rest of the week. Together, we visited Jenni, the Davis family, and the Harless family. It was a busy week! Here are some pictures.

Some friends from my old work.

Julia enjoyed meeting Jim.

She was captivated by what he was showing her on his computer.

No more pictures, Mommy - I'm hungry!

Having fun with "aunt" Jenni.

Next we went to see the Davis family. Julia was worn out from her visit with Jenni and slept most of the time, so we played with Madison outside. We'll have to let her try the infant swing next time we visit.

We gave Madison Play-doh for her 2nd birthday. She was a little worried about it at first, but Kyle finally convinced her that it was fun.

Julia was mellow when she awoke from her nap and was content to be held by her Aunt Kimberly.

The next evening at the Harless' home. Chris, April, and Alyssa with Julia.

Julia really liked Alyssa. Cayden was in interested in Julia also and kept bringing her his toys for her to play with.

Julia had never seen toy trucks before, but really liked them. The big dump truck was difficult for her to handle, but the little car was perfect.

Guys' Ski Trip

Kyle and his friend, Kevin, went to Utah last week to ski. They had a fun time, but missed having Richard, who had planned to go too but had to cancel at the last minute. There aren't any pictures of Kyle and Kevin together - probably for fear of looking too much like a "couple." Kevin got to find out what it is like to be carried off the slopes by the ski patrol. He took a bad fall and injured his shoulder, but managed to ski again the last day.

San Gabriel Park

A few weeks ago we took Julia to San Gabriel Park here in Georgetown. Although we frequently drive by the park, we had never stopped to walk around. We are glad to have a pretty park so close to our house and look forward to spending lots of time there as she gets older.
By this point, Julia was sleepy and the sun was in her eyes so we couldn't get her to smile.

After we left the park we went to Best Buy for a couple things. I wandered off to find something and then had to find where Kyle and Julia were. I turned the corner and found them in front of the Guitar Hero game and just had to take a picture.
