Weekend with Mamaw & Papaw

Last weekend, while Kyle was on a guys' golf trip, Julia and I went to Houston to spend the weekend with Mamaw and Papaw.Walking in to the restaurant...like a big girl!

Sitting in an antique chair that was Julia's great-great-grandmother's as a child.

Relaxing in the hammock with Papaw.

Dinner with Family

The night after Julia's birthday party, a large group of us went out to dinner. Here are some pictures...

Julia's Dedication

Julia was dedicated on Sunday, September 13, 2009 at First Baptist Georgetown. We were pleased to have all of our family, including some extended family, with us at the service. We acknowledge that our precious child is a gift from God and belongs to Him, and we commit to raising her before God. It is our prayer that one day Julia will come to know Jesus Christ as her personal savior and Lord.

Julia's 1st Birthday Party

Here are pictures from Julia's 1st birthday party last Saturday. We were fortunate to have all of our family, a lot of extended family, and a few friends join us for the celebration. Julia did really well, considering the large crowd and all the activity around her. We all had a great time!

First, some of the decorations...The theme was garden/flowers/bugs.
3 framed photos of Julia - at 3 weeks, 6 months, and 1 year.

A birthday banner made of paper, with 8 photos of Julia that show how much she has changed in her first year.

A closeup of the center flower, which says "Birthday Girl".

The cake!
(Obviously this was not something I decided to tackle - it was made by a professional)

Julia's personal cake.

The birthday girl sitting in Papaw's lap holding her green balloon.

She was so cute - crawling and scooting around on her knees with her balloon tied to her back. It was easy to keep up with her, and she liked being able to reach back and grab the balloon string at any time.

Time for cake. But, she was irritated that she was back in her high chair - after all, she already ate and didn't understand why she was being forced back in the high chair. And then we put the hat on her, which didn't go over well. It didn't last long at all!

Not sure what this is all about...

After she poked at the cake a couple times, we gave her a spoon, which clued her into the fact that this huge cake in front of her was something she was supposed to eat. Not bad after all!
She really made a dent in the cake...yum!

Lastly, the cookie favors - snails, butterflies, and flowers.

Recent Pictures

Julia recently discovered the dogs' water bowls in the garage...and this is what happens:
First, she splashes and gets the water everywhere, including on her clothes. This particular time, she had already played in the dirt so it made an even bigger mess.
After splashing for a while and getting most of the water out, she can then lift the bowls and dump the remaining water out, and it usually ends up on her. Then she stacks the bowls on each other. In this picture, she is holding a rock she found.

"Oh, what a mess I've made..."

Her first taste of soft-serve ice cream. Daddy enjoyed being the one to give it to her.

Keeping Daddy company and trying to help with the flower beds.

Julia's last ride in her infant car seat. It is amazing to see how much bigger she is than the first time she rode home in it.

Trying out the new car seat before it was put in the car. She thought it was like a big recliner.

Riding in her new car seat for the first time - and facing forward!

One of Julia's latest obsessions...balloons. She is often handed one at the grocery store and thinks they are so fun!
