It's a Boy!

We are excited to announce that our baby is a BOY! We had our 19 week ultrasound and had a chance to see the baby in detail, and he definitely wasn't shy about his gender so there is no doubt about it. He was very active during the ultrasound and everything checked out well. His weight was approx. 11 ounces. Here are a couple of the photos...

Family Reunion

We had a wonderful weekend with family at the annual White Family Reunion. We took hundreds of pictures, but here are a few...

First Day of "Cool"

Julia started a Mothers' Day Out program at church this summer, which has been great for both of us. She goes twice a week from 9-2 and has a wonderful time. She calls it "Cool" (school).Here she is on the first day. She had no idea what "Cool" was but she was excited about it and thought her new backpack was pretty.

She was still crashed when I went to pick her up the first day. I didn't expect her to sleep, but she did! Since then, there has only been one other day that she has slept there. The other days she is required to lie on her mat and be quiet for 45min-1 hr and after that can get up and play (she isn't the only one not sleeping). The good thing about it is that she comes home and takes a 2 hr nap, so I can get even more done!

San Antonio

We had a nice long weekend in San Antonio to celebrate our wedding anniversary. Julia got to go with us too, and she really enjoyed it.

Watching Shamu perform. Earlier in the day we bought her a small Shamu toy and she kept calling it "shampoo," which was so cute. But it didn't take her long to get the correct pronunciation.

Julia's first time to ride the log ride! She didn't know what she was agreeing to when we said we were going to get in a boat. She had some moments of panic (as we climbed the steep parts), but overall she did great, considering her age. We were so proud of her that we spent $20 on this souvenir picture.

About to head back to the hotel. She had so much fun and talked about the "peegins" (penguins), sea lions, sharks, dolphins, and "Shamu high-five" (since she gave the Shamu mascot a high-five) for days.

Julia: 21 Months

Some notes about Julia at 21 Months...

• She is now fully potty trained (hooray!) She recently went about 10 days without having an accident. The only time she wears a pull-up is in the church nursery, but she doesn't ever go in it. She also rarely uses her diaper during naps, and often wakes in the middle of the night to go to the bathroom - her diaper is usually dry and after I take her to the bathroom, she goes right back to sleep.
  
• She knows her first and last name, and ours too. Every now and then if we ask what our names are she'll say without thinking about it, "Mommy White" or "Daddy White" and when we ask her again she'll come up with the correct answer.
• She consistently counts to 14, and beyond that skips numbers or gets them out of order.
• She is starting to learn Spanish. She knows "agua" and used to know "uno, dos, tres" but when we taught her 4 and 5 in Spanish she decided she likes "cinco" a lot and will now just say, "uno, dos, cinco!!"
• She loves to jump - and can get both feet a few inches off the ground.
• She still loves reading books, coloring, and doing puzzles more than anything else.
  

Things she says a lot:

• "Me hold you" - when she is insecure and wants to be held
• "Sue me" (excuse me) - when she bumps into me, or if my shopping cart bumps into something.
• "Uptie down" (upside down)
• "My turn!" - especially before bed after we read a book to her - she wants a turn to flip through the pages on her own.
• "Mommy...are you?" (where are you?)
• "Watch She Sheet?" (watch Sesame Street?) - the show she requests the most, although she likes watching others too.
• "I find it!" - whenever she finds something she was looking for or had been missing.
  
• "Ring rosie...one time...okay!" - one of her favorite things is playing/singing Ring Around the Rosie in her room before bedtime. No matter how many times we do it with her, she says, "one more time!"
