Christmas Stroll

We had a great time at the annual Christmas Stroll on the square. The parade was at noon and we returned later that evening for the other festivities.

The same day, 4 of Melanie's college friends drove to town to have lunch and visit for the afternoon. Colin enjoyed all the attention while we ate at Monument Cafe.

Julia's class at school put on a little Christmas program for the parents. It was quite chaotic since several children cried the entire time they were on stage, but so funny for us to watch. Julia did great despite the distractions, and demonstrated her sweet tender heart toward one girl who was upset. Here are pictures and a video clip showing the funniest part...

Julia leaned to the girl next to her who wasn't singing and (we think) tried telling her the words. :)

She was very concerned about her other friend who kept getting upset and put her arm around her. I love her sweet, loving expression in this picture.

It appears that her friend is wondering why Julia is patting her on the back.

What a sweetheart!

Julia was so excited to hold him. At first he was crying so she said, "Shh...It' OK!" over and over. So sweet!

Julia often asks to hold Colin. For the most part, she is very good with him, but occasionally is a little too rough. She is concerned when he cries and suggests we get him a kleenex, gets very excited when he has his eyes open, gives him lots of kisses, brings him his teddy bear and blanket when she thinks he needs them, and comforts him when he cries. She is already a wonderful big sister.

Thanksgiving Feast

Julia's school had a special day to celebrate Thanksgiving. Parents were invited to attend, and we both had the opportunity since Kyle didn't have to go to work til later that afternoon. All the kids in her class wore special ponchos (made by the teacher) and hats they had made previously. Julia's Indian name was "Wind Dancer."

On our way back to her classroom, the teacher asked them to hold onto the rope. Julia immediately yelled, "orange." Sure enough, she found the orange ring. We later asked if that was one assigned to her, or what the story was, and the teacher said Julia always wants to hold the orange one. She said Julia is the only child with a preference (of course) and she always wants that one. We were happy to learn that when another child picks it up first, they tell her she can have it later and she is fine with that.
