Recent Pictures

Colin eating his first bowl of Cheerios with milk!  I had been working on it with him, but he was unable to deal with the texture before now.  Another victory!

Using markers is a special treat around here.

Making a huge mess of the playroom, but having fun with friends.

Julia and Raegan

Colin has started making this face recently.

Julia sometimes plays her Vtech Mobigo after quiet time while Colin is still asleep.

Getting her teeth cleaned while watching the movie, Tangled.

Fun with friends at the pool.  Julia was there but didn't want to be in the picture.

Julia with Evan, who recently started walking.  I know she can hardly wait for Colin to walk so she can do this with him.

What a mess!

One Friday night while Kyle worked I took the kids to hear some outdoor music at the square.

I love to see Colin trying to stand up!

Julia with Evan, who came over to play one evening.

Colin's 1st Treatment

We took Colin to Texas Children's Hospital for his first IV Pamidronate infusion treatment (Aug 14-16), which requires an in-patient hospital admission so he can get three 4-hour infusions.

We arrived around 5:30pm and his infusion didn't start until 11pm.  He had some fever in the middle of the night the first night, but that was the only time he reacted to the treatment.  Overall things went well, but there were definitely things that were frustrating about the process - some of which were just things we have no control over and just have to get used to, and other things we feel like could have gone more smoothly.

Colin did great.  He hardly cried with the IV placement, didn't complain about anything, and made the best out of his 3 days there.  There were lots of fun things to see and do, so he was happy and had fun.
At this point Colin had no idea what he was in for.

The view from our 11th floor window.

The VAT (Vascular Access Team) came to put in his IV with the use of an ultrasound machine.

He spotted his hat and asked to wear it first thing in the morning.

We spent some time looking at the neat model train display.

Mamaw came to have lunch with us.

His favorite thing about the stay was riding this car around the hallways.

He got a great haircut too!

Fun in the playroom.

We were discharged late the evening of the 16th.  We spent the night at Mamaw & Papaw's (Julia was there by this point too and Kyle was back at work).  We spent the next morning hanging out with Papaw before returning home.  Colin decided he really liked riding the tractor and kept saying:  "Papaw Tractor!"

Fun at Aunt Kimberly's

We drove to The Woodlands on Tuesday (after first stopping at S&W to get Colin's cast removed!)  We spent the night, enjoyed a fun morning swimming and having an early birthday celebration for Julia.  All while we were waiting for a phone call from TCH saying a room had opened up for Colin.  That call came later in the afternoon while Colin was napping.  Kyle and I headed to the Med Center with Colin and Julia spent a couple more nights there with Aunt Kimberly and Gigi.

Look!  No cast on my left leg!
(still favoring it and not wanting to stand on it yet)
