Halloween Fun

Julia had several chances to wear her Halloween costume this year. There was a fall festival at her school, we went to a big party, and of course trick-or-treating in the neighborhood. First we had to decide what she was wearing. We had 2 options:
A bumble bee

Or a cow (funny looking, but she seemed less comfortable in it). We decided on the bee costume.

Dressed and ready for the fall festival at school.

Headed to the gym with her classmates.

Julia and Grace, the other bee in her class.

Enjoying the hayride!

Julia is in the Busy Bee class, so her teachers dressed up like bees too.

Daddy had to work and miss the big Halloween party, but Julia and Mommy had fun together.
The miniature pumpkin that Julia painted at the party. She did a great job and is very proud of it. Too bad it is real so we cannot keep it.

The Havards' annual pumpkin carving party was lots of fun. Julia had a great time playing with her friend Raegan.

On our way to the neighborhood festival on Halloween.

Time to Trick or Treat! She was so cute. She walked up to each house on her own, said "Trick or Treat?", then "Thank you" and "Happy Halloween" each time.

Our next door neighbor had a bounce house in her front yard for the evening, and Julia was so excited to see that when we made it back to our house. She had it all to herself and had a ball.
At home after the festivities ended.

Cute things

Just wanted to take a moment to document some cute things Julia says, since she is slowly perfecting her pronunciation of words and phrases.

Words:

Cooter (scooter)
Fidgeayter (refrigerator)
Sweeping (sleeping)
Wather (water)
Nunny (hungry)
Poon, Pell, Pall (spoon, smell, small)
Beh-Ben (bandaid)
Opopus (octopus)
Washing Sheen (washing machine)
Number ducky (rubber ducky)
Jamas (pajamas)

Other things she says:

Hug-Kiss (what she says when she wants to give a hug and kiss before going to bed)
Bag Ready (the bag I take to restaurants. I always say, "I'm getting your bag ready" so she thinks that is what it is called.)
"I love your new shoes Mommy" - when she sees me wear new shoes.
"I love your hair, Mommy. It's long." - since people comment to me about how long her hair is getting.

Recent conversation:

Daddy: "Julia, is your bumble bee costume yellow and black?"
Julia: "Yes."
Daddy: "Does it have wings?"
Julia: "No." (they were small so when she tried it on she didn't see them)
Daddy: "Really? It doesn't?"
Julia: "No...Birds have wings...and...airplanes have wings!" (duh!)

36 Weeks!

Just a few more weeks until baby arrives!

Recent Pictures

Catching up on pictures from September and October...
Julia enjoying the big-kid swing.
Just moments later, while Mommy was pushing from behind, she let go with both hands and fell chin-first into the dirt. She screamed instantly and her mouth began bleeding profusely. It appeared she knocked a bottom tooth loose, which caused her gum to split and bleed. We rushed her to our friend Travis' house (he is a pediatric dentist who happens to live around the corner from where we were) and he assured us it was nothing and the tooth would tighten back up and be normal in a day or two. He was right!

A close-up of her chin the next day.

Unfortunately this picture is blurry, but it still captures the thrill of jumping on the trampoline at Gymboree.

All clean!

Ready for her first day of "cool" (school = Mothers-Day-Out)

Taking a morning swim. That morning she woke up at 7am and her first words to me were: "Can I go swimming my baby pool?" We had plenty of time before needing to leave for school so I said, "Sure."

Visiting with Courtney, Marisa, and Deborah in Fort Worth.

Playing with cousin Shane.

On our way to school.

At her first high school football game since she was an infant.
The last time to swim at the lake this year.

Having an afternoon snack.

One of my favorite pictures. She was so excited about the new book Daddy bought her.

Having lunch outside on a beautiful day.

Her first time at Melting Pot.

Ready for school.

Having a great time at the Jungle Java playscape.

Wee!

Kyle's High School Reunion

We spent a weekend in Beaumont for Kyle's 15-year high school reunion. There was a social on Friday night, a picnic Saturday afternoon for the families, and the main reunion dinner that evening. Here are some pictures, thanks to Brooke!

We enjoyed spending time with Kevin and Brooke that weekend, and Julia really enjoyed playing with Caroline at the park.

Back at the house, Julia was entertained by Gigi and Pop while we were busy with the other activities. Thanks for taking care of her and showing her such a good time!
