Colin's Eye

Like many babies, Colin had a clogged tear duct at birth. We did everything we could to help it open on its own (massages, and warm compresses, and constantly wiping the tears from his eye), but it showed no sign of improvement. We finally took him to a pediatric ophthalmologist on 10/4, who in one office visit took care of the problem. The procedure was very quick and painless, although Colin did cry from being held down. Here he is with Dr. Busse after it was all over. We are so glad we took him when we did, since the Dr. said after about 10 months of age he has to do it in the O.R. under general anesthesia. He also said he could tell that it almost definitely would not have opened up on its own.

Quinn Reunion

We had a great weekend with the Quinn side of the family in Beaumont Sept. 30-Oct. 2.
We stayed with Kolby and Lindsay in their new home, but spent the days at Kyle's parents' house.

The "big" kids playing well together.

We went to the park one afternoon and enjoyed beautiful weather!

It was nice seeing Grandma & Grandpa!

Colin Crawling

Here are a couple of videos of Colin crawling. It's more of an army crawl.

Colin: 10 Months

Some quick notes about what Colin is doing at 10 months:

- crawling well (on tummy)
- likes small pieces of soft table food
- loves Cheerios
- likes to drink water out of a glass
- loves bath time

Julia: 3-yr Well Check

Here is a picture from Julia's 3-year check up. She did great and the best thing is there were no shots! :)

Recent Pictures

Just catching up on misc pictures from August and September...

I took the kids to the country club to swim one last time. It was a warm day, but the water had already turned chilly.
Enjoying the live band and beautiful weather while waiting for our table at Dahlia's Cafe one Friday night.
At our table the same evening.

Playing together

Taking the Jeep for a spin the night we bought it from someone in our neighborhood. It will stay at Gigi and Pop's house since we don't have room to store it.

There's a first time for everything! Julia is 3 years old and I'm proud to say this was her first time to eat at McDonald's. We were getting new tile floors and a new backsplash and had no access to our kitchen for breakfast that morning. Needless to say, Julia thought her egg mcmuffin was great!

Watching a few minutes of a movie after bath time

Fun times at Mighty Fine
I had to snap a photo when I saw Colin fell asleep in Papaw's arms while we were out to eat. He never ever sleeps in our arms, or anywhere other than his crib or car seat, so we could hardly believe it. Turns out he had fever caused by a virus that wiped him out for several days.

Colin started sucking his fingers at about 3 months and continues to do so when he is tired. Now, though, he only does it if he comes across some cloth material (like a blanket, wash cloth, or sock, for example) to hold against his face while he sucks his fingers. When we see it, we know he is ready for bed. This time, he used his bib :)

Julia and Colin love "driving" the shopping carts at H-E-B.
